He was predeceased by: his wife Katharina; his brother Daniel; and also Johanna. He is survived by: his children, Hannelore and Richard Gross (Monika); his grandchildren, Karina and Peter Gross; his siblings, Anna, Johann, Emilie and Otilie; and also Regina.
He was a member of the West Side Sachsenheim, Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons, German Central Foundation, Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center and Immanuel Lutheran Church.
