He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertie Tompkins (Ellis) and Lawrence Tompkins; his sons, Varon L. Tompkins, Vincent Scott Tompkins and Michael R. "Mike" Mathews; his grandson Mason Lee Welch; and his sister Reiginia Combs.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Tompkins (Mears); his daughter Melanie Welch (Ronnie); his brother Elwood "Woody" Tompkins; his grandchildren, Chase Welch (Erica Lakins), Shelby Welch, Darrell Welch and Stephanie Ruth (Jacob); his great grandchildren, Ryder Michael Welch and Taylor Rose Ruth; and his sister-in-law Charlotte Noel. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Swart Funeral Home (207 E Central Ave, West Carrollton, OH 45449). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
