She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Hetzel and Mary Hetzel (Sharritts); her husband Quillard "Quill" Abney; her stepson Michael Abney; and her sister Marilyn Gilbert.

She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Ann Alspaugh (James) and Lee Ann Kurtz (Michael); her grandchildren, Douglas Alspaugh (Lisa) and Jessica Nevels (Jerry); her great grandchildren, Sophie Alspaugh and Noah Nevels; and her sister Lola Emmons (Jay). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
