He was predeceased by: his grandson Anthony Hrusch; and his brother Michael Lazuka. He is survived by: his children, Jean Lazuka, Elizabeth Hrusch, Walter Jr., Christopher (Anna), Joseph (Maureen), Stephen (Melissa), Scott (Victoria), Jennifer Lazuka, Michael and Paul (Maria); and his siblings, Camille Rutherford, Barbara Herriman, Kathy Lazuka and Sal Lazuka.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
