He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Brunner and Alice Brunner; his wife Dorothy; his grandson Mark; and his sister Janice Thompson.

He is survived by: his children, Connie Johnson (Dan), Thomas R. Knauss and Kathleen Samarin (James); and his grandchildren, Kelly Samarin, James Samarin, Young Gallo and Matt Johnson. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
