He was predeceased by: his uncles, Rev. Sean Burke and Tom Burke; and his aunt Linda Burke. He is survived by: his daughter Alaina; his wife Danielle Bartel (Kistner); his daughter Ellianna Bartel (Brendan); his parents, Ed Bartel and Judy Bartel; his brothers, Kevin Bartel (Cristina) and Sean Bartel; his mother-in-law Cheryl Kistner; his siblings-in-law, Kevyn Kistner (Amy) and Chris Quinn (Emily); his nephews, Patrick Javier Burke and Eli Quinn; his niece Addie; his aunts and uncles, Martha Zallocco (Ron), Mike Burke (Bonnie), Joseph Burke, Jim Burke, Sister Maureen Burke and Kevin Burke (Kathryn); and his friend Danielle.

Brendan lives on, as in 2014, he donated his kidney to his Godmother, Sr. Maureen.
