He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Stein and Mary Stein (Stoltz); and his siblings, Wilbur, Jerome, Paul, Eugene, Gerald Stein and Phyllis Rasawuhr.

He is survived by: his wife Janet M. Stein (Schmidt); his children, Penny Miller (Michael) of Farmersville, Ohio, Randy Stein (Kris) of Myrtle Beach, Tammy Taylor (Terry) of Toledo, Ohio and Rebecca Bowsher of Spencerville, Ohio.; and his brother Dale Stein (Helen) of San Antonio. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
