He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Gortner and Mary Gortner (Gindlesperger); his uncles, Carl, Robert, Clayton and Wayne Gortner; and his niece Anne Wolf.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen; his children, John Gortner (Terri), Susan Mason (Sean), Karen Strauss (Mike) and Michelle Gortner Hamad (Paul); his grandchildren, Katelyn Pankuch, Keith Pankuch, Nick Pankuch, Miles Mason, Ian Mason, Lydia Hamad, Avery Mason and James Strauss; his great grandchild Mazie Pankuch; and his brother Larry Gortner (Joanne). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
