He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey H. Cox and Mary Grace Cox (Dowell); his wife Joyce Cox (Baird); his son Michael Wayne Cox; and his siblings, Lacey Cox, Worley Cox, G. B. Cox and Pauline Cox.

He is survived by: his daughters, Nancy Ellis of Brunswick and Cheryl Hammonds (Dennis) of London, Kentucky.; his grandchildren, Rachel Ellis of Brunswick, Danielle Ellis (Daniel) of Brunswick, Brandon Cox of Medina, Dana Davis (Jeff) of London and Jordan Hammonds (Emily) of Johnson City, Tennessee.; his great grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew, Cheyenne, Maleah, Kylie and Gracie; his great great grandchildren, Melonie, Mason and Noah; and his friend Peggy Colburn.
