She was predeceased by: her parents, Sophia Hatfield (Hill) and Snowden Hatfield; her husband Norman Russell; her son Walter J. Russell; her brother Junior Hatfield; her close friend Oney Joseph; and her son-in-law Rick Anderson.

She is survived by: her children, Virginia Hanna, Sandy Anderson, Andrea Brown (Jack), Angela Smiddy (Charles), Cheryl Crager (John), Marvin Russell, Donald Russell (Miriam) and Bruce Russell (Shelia). She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
