She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Edwards and Caress Edwards (Standley); her husbands, Robert J. Smith and Thomas S. Peters; her sisters, Joane Foulk and Kathryn "Kate"; her brother-in-law William Lawson; and her nieces, Kathy Brannon and Brenda Rice.
She is survived by: her children, James R. Smith (Racille) of Urbana, Ohio, John J. Smith (Ann) of Mechanicsburg and Robi Zirkle (Steve) of St. Paris, Ohio; her stepchildren, Cindy Peters (Michelle) of Springfield, Ohio and Mitch Peters of Daytona Beach, Florida; and her grandchildren, Bart Smith (Karen), Stacy Smith, John Smith (Tonia), Derek (Kari), Darbie, Darcie Zirkle, Delaney, Tori Peters, Taylor and Ethan Smrtnik. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mrs. Betty Smith-Peters name to the Triad Elementary Library in North Lewisburg, Ohio.
