He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harrison and Ella Prater; his siblings, Jerry, Charlie, Ron and Marcella; his great grandchild Jared Champion; his former wife Lois Adelmann; and his sister-in-law Helen Overholt.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Green Prater; his children, Wayne Prater (Dody), Janette Clifford, Dori Buckler (Jerry), Grant Prater (Regina), Ella Prater (Keith), Dusty Prater and Jack Fain; and his pet Molly. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of William Hershel Prater to St. Jude Children's Hospital Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
