He is survived by: his son Alva Mitchell McCarty (Emma); and his siblings, Kenny McCarty (Nina) of Wilkesville, Denver McCarty (Charlotte) of Wilkesville, Brenda Burridge (Mike) of Wilkesville and Debbie Shepherd (Wayne). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
