He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert M. Hess and Kathryn Zang Hess; his siblings, Thomas Hess, Susan Halter and Gretchen Miller Halter; his wife Beverly G. Hess; and his son Robert M. Hess III.
He is survived by: his sons, Steven G. Hess (Angela) and David R. Hess (Lynn); his grandchildren, Steven Hess Jr. (Jessica), Andrew Hess, Kathryn Hess, Briana Hess, Sarah Hess and Ashley Hess; and his great grandchildren, Blake Hess, Allen Hess, Sophia Hess and Willow Hess.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association or St. Timothy Episcopal Church.
