He was predeceased by: his parents, John Grear and Mattie Grear (Thomas); and his sisters, Dorothy Browning, Waneta Gilham, Daisy Layman, Wanda Lynn and Lucille Miller.

He is survived by: his brother J. T. Grear; his daughters, Carolyn Brothers of Massillon and Rhenda Routh of Massillon; his grandson Cody (Brandy); his brother Ryan (Cheyenne); his great grandchildren, Trent, Karlee and Dolan Brothers; and his brother Don Grear.
