He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Schultz and Else Schultz (Matthes); his former wife Julie; his siblings, Norbert and Gertrude; and his son-in-law Gregg Reink.

He is survived by: his wife Mona; his sons, John and David; and his stepdaughters, Jane Comber and Susan Reink. He is also survived by grandchildren, J. J. (Andrea) Schultz, Rachel (Brian) Ernst, Sarah Schultz, Daniel (Jennifer) Schultz, Jennifer (Whitney) Owen, Matthew Comber, Katherine (Andrew) Power, Dr. Molly (David) Lopez-Cepero, Dr. Jennifer Reink, Elizabeth Reink, Robert Reink and 12 great-grandchildren.
