He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Massa and Mary Massa. He is survived by: his wife Susan Massa (Leonard); his children, Joseph Scott Massa (Kelly), Stephanie LeMaster (Manfred) and Sarah Liscano; his grandchildren, Justin Massa (Amber), Tommy Massa, Hewitt Liscano and Louisa Liscano; his great grandchildren, Gavin, Julian and Ophelia Massa; and his sister Claudia Gallagher.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans or US War Dogs Association.

“Dorothy and I offer our warmest sympathy to Sue, Claudia and all the offspring. We loved Joe so very much.and have so many fond memories of him and our shared adventures, including Boy Scouts, , a week-long canoe trip at age 15 from Mohican to the Ohio River at Marietta, trips in Joe’s Austin Healy Sprite to various destinations along Lake Erie, and a later trip when we were both in the service to Camp LeJeune. We will miss him greatly. God Bless Joe!”
