He was predeceased by: his father Joe Godwin; and his siblings, Rachel (Smith Whitley), Billy (Betty Godwin) and Jim (Cullie Godwin). He is survived by: his brothers, Bob Godwin (Bonnie), Gene Godwin (Linda) and Doug Godwin (Linda); his sisters-in-law, Flossie Russell of North Carolina, Sarah Jones of North Carolina, Pauline Pope of North Carolina, Sandra Williams of North Carolina and Virginia Cutlip of North Carolina; his children, Roxanne Mullis (Jackie), Chris Godwin (Cindy) and Nikki Meffley (Mike); his grandchildren, Josh, Brandon, Kelci, Taylor, Mattie, Marisa and Lillian; his great grandchildren, Kai and Kale; his grandchildren, Jake, Kylie, Kyle, Keisha, Lynette, Owen, Grace, Becca, Erin, Ben, Heather, Jay, Tiffany, Nathan, Brittney, Jonathan, Cody and Savannah; his great grandchildren, Connor, Reese, Cole, Cohen, Dylan, Aisleigh, Everly, Theo, Finley, Eden, Ollie, Ellie and Levi; and his wife Judy Williams Godwin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
