He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Thompson and Betty Thompson (Bloomer); his brother Howard "Mickey" Thompson; his siblings-in-law, Ed Basilius, Jan Sterling and Linda Boggioni; and his nephews, Craig Nunamaker, Michael Thompson and Pomeranian Katrina.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon L. Thompson (Nunamaker); his children, Kristen Zavar (Al) of Plain City, Matthew Thompson (Beth) of Michigan, Lori Komlos (Jeff) of Kentucky and Starla Messer (Tim) of Marysville; his grandchildren, Cole Zavar (Hannah), Jarod Zavar, Brenna Zavar, Pearl Thompson, Carver Komlos, Colson Komlos, Trevor Messer and Troy Messer; his siblings, Gary Thompson (Stephanie) of Florida and Marcia Basilius of Tennessee; his brothers-in-law, Joe Boggioni, John Nunamaker (Sandy), George Nunamaker, Joe Nunamaker (Melissa) and Lawrence Nunamaker (Kathy); his nieces, Michelle May (Scott), Stephanie Small (Ronald) and Jennifer Thompson; his nephew Chris Basilius; and his friends, Gene, Lenora Byers and Anita Kinser (family: Jean Thompson, Jack, Judy Nelson).
In lieu of flowers, Dave's family requests contributions may be made in his memory to the Tunnel to Tower Foundation which honors America's First Responders, Veterans and their Families (t2t.org) or Folds of Honor (foldsofhonor.org) which benefits families of fallen soldiers.
