He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Hughes and Josephine Hughes; his wife Mary M. Hughes (Ritchey); his son Justin D. Hughes; and his son-in-law George Knuth.
He is survived by: his children, Corena Mitchell (Jon) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Laura Powaski (Ken) of Twinsburg, OH, Erik Hughes Hughes of Seattle, WA and Leslie Knuth of Jackson Twp; his brother Mark Hughes; his grandchildren, Erin Chmielewski, Logan, Brennen Powaski and Inara Hughes; his great grandchildren, Riley Chmielewski, Owen and Austin; and his sisters, Billie (Jack Regis), Sylvia (Larry Deaton) and Diana Schell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
