It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph M Carter Sr. of Martins Ferry, Ohio, who passed away on May 5, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Carter and Martha Carter; his siblings, Madonna Christian Jeffries, Beverly Jean Jones, Sandra Kaye Whitfield and Veryl Lee Paul, Sr.; and his children, Debra Ann Fisher and Larry R. Carter.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Carter; his children, Magaret E. Fisher of Steubenville, Joseph Carter, Jr. (Karen) of Columbus, Patricia Fisher of New York, Jeffrey A. Carter (Donna) of Wheeling, Norma Woods (Gregory) of Steubenville, Evonne C. Johnson (James) of Steubenville and David G. Mackey (Robinlynn) of Pemberville; his friends, Eugene Roberts of Adena and Don Machelle of Pittsburgh; his daughter Rochelle Martin of Columbus; and his siblings-in-law, Nick Kalinski, Dana Kalinski (Judy), Bryan Kalinski (Grace), Anna Mary McLaughlin (James), Rhonda Bennett, Ro Billings and Kimberly Sue Reardon. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
