He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Lane and Edna Plotner; and his siblings, Evelyn Holcomb, Pearl Crowe, Esther Clark, Nellie Columber, Jean Gruver, Earl Lane Jr., Robert Lane and Gerald Lane.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Mitchell Lane; his children, Joseph E Lane (Rhonda), Richard Thomas Lane and Lisa R Steele (Randy); and his siblings, Iona Jessie (Onie) and Floyd Lane (Butch). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
