He was predeceased by : his parents, Glen Thompson, and Laura Thompson, Sr.; his children, Anthony Dale Thompson and Denise Thompson; and his brothers, Glen Thompson, Jr. and Robert Denver Thompson.

He is survived by : his wife Diana Sue Thompson (Smith); his children, Donna Abu-Rayyan (Sadala) and Dennis Thompson, Jr. (Shawn); his grandchildren, Kristen Begin (Paul), Keith Thompson, Jr. (Elaine), Hassan Abu-Rayyan (Kasey), Dennis Thompson III, Zahra Abu-Rayyan, Zainab Abu-Rayyan, Hadell Abu-Rayyan, Muhammad Abu-Rayyan and Christina Centeno; his great grandchildren, Aaliyah Begin, Alexis Begin, Paul Joseph Begin, Jr., Lucy Abu-Rayyan, Laith Abu-Rayyan, Lena Abu-Rayyan, Junho Song, Natalie Thompson, Naomi Thompson, Keith Thompson III, Freddy, Rita, Brayden and Raylynn; and his sisters, Laura May Henderson, Lucille Robinson and Carol Branham.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 30th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Fort Gay Church of God (8507 Vancouver St, Fort Gay, WV 25514). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 1st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, July 1st 2024 at the Smith Cemetery.
