He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence K. Dawson and Cora Cox Dawson; his wife Betty Jackson; his stepmother Hazel Dawson (Betty); his daughters, Sherry Dawson and Susan Miller; his grandchildren, William Dawson, Ashley Bules and Carlton Sparks; and his siblings, Dorothy Irene Chipps, Lula F. Lamp, Charles W. Dawson, Robert D. Dawson, Thurmand E. Dawson, Floyd E. Hendershot Dawson, Delbert E. Dawson and Carl Richard "Ricky" Dawson.
He is survived by: his son Lawrence "Larry" Dawson, Jr. of Marietta; his grandchildren, Kathy Dawson (Sean Merrill), Jason Dawson, Nathan Sturm, Heidi Fickiesen (Patrick), Krixten Bules (Roe) and Demetria Mims; and his siblings, Agnes Pickens, Alice Miller (Jim), Betty Jean Bell (Hoppy), Anna May Galloway, Ancil Dawson and George Dawson. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.
