He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Leonardo and Maria Eva Portillo Muñoz; his brother Mario Muñoz; and his niece Eva Muñoz. He is survived by: his siblings, Mirtala Smith (Steve), Gloria Erazo, Margarita Erazo, Carlos Muñoz (Kathryn), Leonardo Muñoz and Rufino Muñoz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand and great-nieces and grand and great-nephews.
