He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivo Bertke and Christine Bertke (Albers); his wife Rita Marie Dahlinghaus; and his siblings-in-law, Lewis, Rita Bertke, Stanley Bertke Othmar Osterloh, Dorothy Bertke, Jim Dahlinghaus and Carl Spangler.
He is survived by: his children, Steven (Dianne Bertke), Kathleen (Harold Bruns), Mary Jo (Marvin Koester), Denise (Lawrence Kunk), Patrick (Claudia Bertke), Gerelyn (Raymond Moeller), Gerard Bertke of New Bremen and Gregory (Anita Bertke); and his parents-in-law, Jovita Osterloh of St. Henry, Urban Bertke of New Bremen, Martha Bertke of Coldwater, Betty Bertke of Maria Stein, Velma Spangler of St. Henry, Melvin Bruggeman of Anna, David, Pat Dahlinghaus of Maria Stein, Marcia Dahlinghaus of Arizona and Marlene Dahlinghaus of Maria Stein. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; siblings.
