He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Stiffler (Ruth) and Mary Russell (Ed); and his half-sister Janet Stiffler. He is survived by: his wife Mary Stiffler (Altizer); his daughter Ginger Casner (Dave) of Mount Vernon; his sister Linnie Russell (William) of Palm Desert; and his half-sister Sandra Stooksbury of Marengo.

Memorial contributions in James's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
