He was predeceased by: his parents, Laborn Rachel and Emily Rachel (Johnson); and his wife Carolyn Ruth Rachel (Patton). He is survived by: his children, William Rachel Jr. (Linda), Tina Salgado (Felix), Michael W. Rachel (Cheryl) and Diana Burger (Master Sargeant David Jr.); and his former wife Carolyn D. Mills (Holmes). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and more on the way; several nieces and nephews.
