Elsa Greta Giess Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsa Greta Giess of Mansfield, Ohio, who passed away on February 26, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, August Schmidt and Julianna Schmidt (Wanagas); her husband George Giess; her siblings, Edith Hunsinger, Erika Schuster (Adam), Agnes Bohling (Wolfgang) and Erwin Schmidt; her daughter-in-law Shelli Giess; and her siblings-in-law, Adam Giess, Chris Hoffmann, Hans Giess (Margot) and Katie Novak.
She is survived by: her children, Jenny Funk (Brad) and John Giess; her grandchildren, Brittany Conley (Todd), Steven Lee (Emily), Kyle Giess, Braeden Giess, Justin Funk (Tiffany) and Jared Funk (Andrea); her great grandchildren, Elias, Isaac Conley, James George, Evelyn, Judah Lee, Cameron, Emerson, Addison and Parker Funk; her brothers, Siegfried Schmidt (Heidi) and Erich Schmidt (Gerdi); her sisters-in-law, Christa Schmidt, Lisa Hoffmann and Judy Giess; and her close friend Gerta Mills. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario (100 Lexington Springmill Rd S, Ontario, OH 44906). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Contributions in memory of Elsa may be made to Kingwood Center Gardens.
