She was predeceased by: her parents, Barth Gayheart and Belle Gayheart (Alley); her husband Charles Hirby; and her stepdaughter Tecla Kellar. She is survived by: her children, Larry Hamilton (Donna), Lois Crawford (Michael), Debra Short (Quention) and Wilma Martin; and her stepsons, Steve Hirby (Pat) and John Hirby (Nancy). She is also survived by grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In memory of Dixie's charitable and helpful spirit, her family asks that loved ones make contributions in her name to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Samaritan's Purse.
