He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wesley and Mabel Payton (Perry); his son Michael Payton; his sisters, Hazel McCarty, Faye Caugherty and Nelda Koenig; his nephew Jay Kmetz; and his niece Judy Hootman.
He is survived by: his wife Annette Payton (Church); his daughters, Denise Wylie (Tom) and Lori Nichols (Norm); his granddaughters, Amanda Robertson (Whit) and Hannah Nichols; his great grandchildren, Paige Divelbiss and Weston Robertson; his sister Emogene Briggs; and his sister-in-law Lousie Kmetz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
