He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Rector and Estella Rector (Howell); his wife Patty J. Rector (Rowley); his son-in-law Thaddus Burford; his siblings, Geraldine Roush, Edith Brown, Irene Johnson, Pauline Postlethwait, Odell and Delbert Rector; and his great grandchild Kahlon.
He is survived by: his children, Beverly Burford of Newport News, VA and Darrell Rector Jr. (Susan) of Fredericksburg, VA; his brother Richard Rector; his grandchildren, Talan Burford (Sarah), Kara Farmer (Taylor), Joshua Burford, Jeremiah Burford (Kristen), Kristen Dobson (Matthew) and Matthew Rector (Kelsie); and his great grandchildren, Skyler, Marley, Jovie, Lorra, Lanah, Noelle, Konrad, Hailey, Cameron and Addison.
