He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Richard Charles Mentzel, Charles Michael Mentzel (Rosemary), Mary Beth Adams (Bruce) and David Allen Mentzel (Katie Burroughs); his grandchildren, Amy Merchant, Sarah Pelfrey, Stacy Rothert, Jamie Mentzel, Brett Mentzel, Corie Mentzel, Brooks Adams, Teri Goettelman, Kristen Elkins, Caitlyn Adams, Grayson Mentzel, Henry Mentzel, Finley Mentzel and Tiernan Mentzel; his great grandchildren, Evan, Ava, Emma, Evelyn, Nathan, Kelly, Landon, Jocelynne, Jackson, Logan and Abigail; and his siblings, Charlotte Rose Stuebing (late Fred), James "Jim" Anthony Mentzel, Catherine Mary Klayer (late Edward), Theresa Mary Houp (late James) and Patricia Margaret Greene (late Mark).
