He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph and Hazel; his daughter Lana Martin; and his siblings, Ralph "Nick" Bonnema and Tessie Bonnema.
He is survived by: his children, Gary (Theresa) of Madison, Phillip (Teresa) of Perry, Carolyn Kurkowski (Mike) of Denver, NC and Ramona Skinner (Roy) of Madison; and his brother Jan (Sue) of Grand Rapids, MI.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
