He was predeceased by: his parents, Madeline Gilligan (Dowd) and Gerard Gilligan; and his brother Michael (Maddie). He is survived by: his siblings, Gerard, Peter (Dawn), Mary Bendinelli (Ernie) and Ann Puleo (Michael); his wife Marilyn Traxler; his sons, Robert of Longmont, CO and Steven (Largs); and his grandchildren, Maya, Abbie and Sean.
