He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude J. Speer and Epsie A. Speer (Pritchett); his wife Wilma T (Lewellen); his daughter Claudia; his grandsons, Lee Jr. and Kyle Thompson; and his siblings, Lloyd Speer, Helen Martin and Betty Berwick.
He is survived by: his children, Vickie Turner, Steve Speer (Kathi), Phillip Speer (Laura) and Kim Thompson (Lee); and his grandchildren, Wendy Gardner (Brian), Mark Turner, Jason Turner (Cori Ward), Kerry Lauer (Tonya), Matthew Speer (Bethany), Jennifer Speer (Noah Trebucq), Jason Lee (Rebecca) and Caroline Speer. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
