He was predeceased by: his father Charles Milton Breckel; his granddaughter Hanna Marie Breckel; and his brother Carroll Lynn Breckel. He is survived by: his mother Geraldine Bloom Breckel of Wilmington; his wife Lydia Brown Walker Breckel; his children, Jonathan E. Breckel of Tennessee, Christopher A. Breckel (Casey) of Sabina, Richard Breckel of Columbus, Dan Walker of Lynchburg, Melissa Johnston (Jay) of Cincinnati and Tracey Scherry (John) of California; his grandchildren, Mikaela, Tanner, J. R. (Maya Breckel), Jackson (Jillian Walker) and Miranda (Jared Johnston); his siblings, Charles Eugene Breckel (Sharon) of Wilmington and Pam Cramer (Garry) of Jamestown; his nephews, Brandon Cramer (Corlina), Tom Breckel (Deborah) and Shane Breckel; and his niece Michelle Peiffer (Chris).

Due to the Covid19 virus, Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately for the family on Thursday.
