He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Shumer and Florence Shumer (Kahle); and his brothers, Donald Shumer and Richard Shumer. He is survived by: his wife Diane Shumer; his children, Robert Shumer, Clarice Shumer, James Shumer (Rebekah), Odelia Thigpen (Ed), Geoffrey Shumer, Kalika Morris (Kyle), Elijah Shumer, Jotham Shumer, Christopher Shumer (Amarinda), Kadesha Shumer, Stephen Shumer, Jerusha Shumer, Jubilee Shumer and Nehemiah Shumer; and his siblings, Dan Shumer (Diane), Mary Staple and Sue Harris (Utah). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
