He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Pontius and Clarice Martin Pontius; his stepfather Jerome Smith; and his brother-in-law Ron Hughey. He is survived by: his daughters, Kim Nohe (Greg) of Marietta and Julie Rice (Jerry) of St. Mary's, WV; his grandchildren, Austyn McVicar (Allyson), Taylor McVicar (Brandon Sands), Sara Craig (David), Lacey Nohe, Logan Rice (Erika Becker) and Brody Rice (Delanie Postlethwait); his great grandchildren, Jaxyn McVicar, Kinley and Olivia Craig; and his siblings, Tim Pontius (Sue) and Carole Hughey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel (1021 Pike St, Marietta, OH 45750).
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department, Amedisys Hospice, or The Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.
