He was predeceased by: his parents, James Shankland and Hazel McPeek Shankland; his wife Betty McCune; his grandson Wesley Antill; his brother Charles Edward Shankland; and his siblings-in-law, Edward McCune, Hank Needs, Gene Harmon, Dave Revels, Marilyn Shankland, Beulah Needs and Grace Revels.
He is survived by: his children, John Steven Shankland of Lowell, Pam Antill (Ed) of Wingett Run, James Shankland (Joann) of Dexter City, Sherry Oliver of Marietta and Rick Shankland of Lowell; his grandchildren, Jess Shankland, Tami Hill, Tracy Flesher, Travis Antill, Peggy Bryant, Jason Shankland and Justin Oliver; his sisters-in-law, Pauline Harmon, Ellaine Coy, Alice Schafer, Dora Revels and Brenda McCune; and his cousin Mert Sipes. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
