Virgil McCullough Obituary
On Saturday, November 2, 2024 we lost our beloved father, Virgil McCullough. He was a wonderful husband of 64 years to our mother, Nita. Father to Mark (Jayne) McCullough and Tracy (Ed) Shorten, grandfather to Heidi (Greg) Kroell, Cody Mozena (Mandi Konrad), Andy (Nakeli) McCullough, step grandfather to Brad Shorten, Holly (Greg) Klemenswicz, great grandfather to Tyler and Natalie Kroell, and step great grandfather to Kate and Ella Klemenswicz.
Virgil was born in Newark, Ohio December 4, 1929 to Virgil and Ruth McCullough. He came from a large family of five brothers and four sisters, eight of whom have gone before him. If you knew Virgil you knew his wit, charm, easy smile, sense of humor, and laughter. He was a man of honesty, integrity, loyalty, and character. He played basketball for, and graduated from, Alexandria High School, with 24 of his classmates that formed the Class of 1947. He joined the Army in 1949, serving in Korean war. After his honorable discharge in 1953, he married his beautiful wife in 1956. Together, they traveled the world! From humble beginnings for both, they left their mark on this world. Dad led by example and always tried to do the right thing. He was active in the Community Foundation in West Chester and dedicated his time to the Republican Party. He began his career in May 1956 working for Graybar Electric in the Columbus office. He worked his way up to outside sales. In 1973 he was transferred to Cincinnati and became their District Marketing manager. A year before retirement he was transferred back to Columbus as the Branch Manager of the office where he started 35 years earlier! Dad met many friends over the years and if you knew him you probably loved him…most everyone did! He was a very good man and we were proud to call him our father. He will be missed by all that knew him. We love you Dad!
