He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary Kirby; his daughters, Brittany Bevis and Melinda Bevis; his parents, Charlotte Bevis and Eugene Bevis; and his sisters, Jeanne Bevis (Tony Murphy) and Diane.

“I will always remember Ted with a deep tan and 70's afro. Siting in his elevated chair and enforcing the rules. If his favorite song comes over WSAI the volume goes up and all swimmers need to be quiet. Bill Wither's, "Ain't No Sunshine" brings Ted's memory even today. Rest in peace Ted.”

“I worked with Ted at the old Waterworks Swimming pool. He was so funny to be around. It was always Ted, Ed C, Claudia G, Carmen R, and me. We were always screwing around and Mr., Worth would see us doing whatever, shake his head, laugh at us then turn and leave. Ted was a great friend, and this world will miss him.”
