“Dave was such a very close, dear friend. We spent many hours in the car searching for perfect kayaking sites and many days paddling every waterway in western Oregon and southern Washington. He was such a kind person. I always wished he had been my junior-high science teacher. On the water, he always helped me see things I otherwise would have not. An albino salamander comes to mind. He always preferred obscure, country routes to direct routes on the Interstate and I was always so worth it.”
