He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Groetz and Viola Groetz (Stover); his grandson Matthew Shockling; and his siblings, William Groetz, Pat Miller and Mary Ann Dolak.
He is survived by: his wife Mina Jane Groetz; his children, Jeanne Groetz-Shockling (Paul) of Stow, Jennifer Morrison (Brian) of Louisville, Jodi Sproul (Trevor) of Plain Township and James Groetz II (Ashley) of Jackson Township; his grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew Shockling, Brandon, Cameron Morrison, Jay, Justine, Jessica, Julia Groetz and Caitlyn Sproul; and his sisters, Betty Lou Lash and Debra Shaw (Mark).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church or Camp Wakonda in Sherrodsville, Ohio.
