He was predeceased by: his parents, Dillon Matheny and Pearl Matheny; his wife Loretta Matheny; his sister Lyla Watson; and his grandson Jeffrey.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Fleischer (Terry), Donna Kelley and Tom Matheny (Deborah); and his brother Wayne Matheny. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
