He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie B. Lakes, Sr. and Ora Stevenson; his son Aric Lakes; and his siblings, James Stevenson, Larry Lakes, Johnny Lakes and Ivory Lakes.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary; his children, Anita, Willie, Dwight Bason, Dalphene Bason and Dalphat Calhoun; his grandchildren, Arica, Adriel, Akari, Ambre'l, Ariahn, Adoniyah of Anthony, Marshall, Chenelle and D'wayne Blue; his sisters, Catherine Smith, Joyce Stanley (Jackie), Geraldine Curry, Joann Thomas and Carolina Shelly; and his daughter Valerie "Muffy" Lovett. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
