He was predeceased by: his great-grandparent Louis "Deda" Deniff; his grandfather Antonio Cruz; his great-grandparent Patricia; his grandmother Millan; and his uncle Francisco Pilar Rojas.

He is survived by: his parents, Shawn Cruz and Lisette Cruz; his siblings, Luis Collazo, Antonio, Julia and Gianna Cruz; his grandparents, Teresa Rojas Mercado, Mary Lou Deniff, Oscar Collazo and David Zeiter; his great-grandparent Donna Dineff; and his children, John C. Retar, Pastor and Rev. Oscar Collazo.
