He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Mason and Helen V. Mason; his brothers, Ernest, Robert and Joseph Mason; and his son-in-law Christopher Cagle.

He is survived by: his wife Sally; his daughters, Linda West (Michael) of Vermilion, Kathleen Kramer of Sheffield, Sharon Cooke (Christopher) of Lorain and Michelle Cagle (late Christopher) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.; and his brother Kenneth Mason (Nancy). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren.
