He was predeceased by: his sisters, Luz Nerida Nieves and Lydia Nieves. He is survived by: his wife Ana Nieves Santiago of Lorain; his children, Carmen Nieves of Michigan, Ana Nieves of Lorain, Hector Nieves (Fawn) of Elyria, Louis Nieves of Orville and Ivan Nieves (Andrea) of Lorain; and his siblings, Jose "Cheo" Nieves of Naranjito, Miguel Nieves of Naranjito, Rosaura Nieves of Naranjito, Maria Nieves of Naranjito, Delia Nieves of Naranjito and Elba "Nelly" Nieves of Naranjito. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
