Matthew G. Bender Obituary

Matthew G. Bender, 76, of Lorain, died January 20, 2022 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born February 2, 1945 in Lorain and attended North Ridgeville High School. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1964-1971 in Vietnam during the TET Offensive and then in Japan. Matt was employed for 30 years as an electrician at US Steel in Lorain and then he and his wife were co-owners of Bender's Dairy Corner in Lorain.

Matt is survived by daughters, Amanda (Nathan) Parrack of Carlisle Township and Malinda (Floyd Jackson) Bender of Dublin, Ireland; grandchildren, Matilda and Walter Parrack; brother, Christopher Bender and a sister, Michelle (Lonnie Schaffer) Bender, both of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Mildred Bender and a sister, Mildred Singer.

Friends will be received Friday, January 28, 2022 from 11:00 am until the time of a 1:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Pastor Steve Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
